Colton, CA....Transit Care, Inc announced today that they have completed a contract with Gillig for 15 bus sets of the 3-Minute Window. These vehicles are being delivered to Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District, California.
Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) has installed the 3-Minute Window on their buses to help reduce material and labor costs due to graffiti damage. The recyclable sacrificial liner that sits between the glazing and the passenger can be replaced in less than 30 seconds for less than 1/10 the cost of the glazing. The 3-Minute Windows patented quick-change design allows their mechanics to replace the glazing in less than 3 minutes.
Steve Hahn, Special Projects Manager, of Santa Barbara MTD commented, "Santa Barbara is a community that prides itself on its beautiful ocean front setting where graffiti or damaged glazing is not tolerated and is instantly replaced helping to promote a clean fresh image that the community is known for. MTD studied all the graffiti prevention systems and glazing replacement systems provided to the transit market. The results from the studies concluded the Transit Care 3-Minute Window was the best-engineered quick-change system on the market.
Santa Barbara MTD covers approximately 52 square miles with 30 transit routes. The district encompasses the communities of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, Montecito, Summerland and Isla Vista. Santa Barbara MTDs active fleet size is 96 fixed route buses operating 7 days a week with 502 miles traveled per week per bus. The annual ridership is over 7 million riders and the miles traveled per year are over 2.4 million service miles.
